To function properly, all microscope models require a light source; this is where Vortran comes in. In the microscope, the laser is directed over the sample and a series of mirrors to create a two-dimensional image. When this image is adjusted, multiple two-dimensional images can create a three-dimensional depiction of the specimen. After the initial consultation, Vortan and Life Canvas discussed the customization of their precision laser materials to suit the needs of Life Canvas Technologies. After this conversation, Vortran Lasers discovered that Life Canvas would need a specific type of fiber to operate the biomedical laser properly, as well as specific laser diodes. Even though Vortran was not currently working with these features, they customized their services to incorporate them to better fit the needs of their clients.

This involved a member of the Vortran team traveling to the first research site and teaching the clients how to use the laser and understand its processes. This hands-on approach made the initial application process as seamless as possible, and ensured the users of the new laser attachments would fully understand how to use them for their research.
